BACKGROUND: beta(2)-Adrenergic receptor (beta(2)-AR) polymorphisms occurring at amino acid position 16 (Arg-Gly) and 27 (Gln-Glu) are known to be functionally relevant and also disease-modifying in subjects with asthma.
