BACKGROUND: Hyper-IgD and periodic fever syndrome (HIDS) is an autosomal recessively inherited disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of fever and inflammation. Unlike other chronic inflammatory conditions, amyloidosis is very rare in HIDS.
