Protein kinase C (PKC) activation is believed to protect against apoptosis induced by death receptors. We have found however that the effect of activation of PKC on tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL)-induced apoptosis of melanoma differs between cell lines.
