Both diabetes (db/db) and obese (ob/ob) genotype mutations induce a hyperglycemic-hyperinsulinemic endometabolic state in C57BL mice, manifesting a type II NIDDM diabetes-obesity syndrome (DOS) in these leptin ligand/receptor-deficient models.
