Glucose re-addition to carbohydrate starved yeast cells leads to a transient elevation of eytosolic calcium (TECC). Concomitantly, a cytosolic proton extrusion occurs through the activation of the vacuolar H(+)-ATPase and the plasma membrane H(+)-ATPases.
