In a case-control study, we studied the effect of a single nucleotide polymorphism in the IL-8 promoter on the risk of the development of AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma (KS). KS developed in 46% of individuals with the TT genotype and in 66% of AA/AT genotypes (P=0.038).
