The experimental deletion of the tcaRAB region has been shown to increase teicoplanin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus. By sequential genetic complementation of a tcaRAB mutant, we identified tcaA as the key gene within tcaRAB that is responsible for changes in glycopeptide resistance levels.
