The Saccharomyces cerevisiae CDC7 gene encodes a protein kinase that functions in DNA replication, repair, and meiotic recombination. The sequence of several temperature-sensitive (ts) cdc7 mutations was determined and correlated with protein kinase consensus domain structure.
