Drosophila amyloid precursor protein-like (Appl) gene encodes a protein product (APPL) similar to beta-amyloid precursor protein (APP) associated with Alzheimer's disease. To understand the in vivo function of APPL protein, we have generated flies deleted for the Appl gene.
