A mouse mutant with sarcosinemia was found by screening the progeny of ethylnitrosourea-mutagenized mice for aminoacidurias. Paper chromatography, column chromatography, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry identified high levels of sarcosine in the urine of the mutant mice.
