Cytochromes P4501B1 (CYP1B1) and P4501A1 (CYP1A1) are involved in the metabolic activation of many polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). To investigate the variability of these enzymes in humans a long-term study of the constitutive mRNA expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) was initiated.
