Pseudohyperaldosteronism is characterized by a clinical picture of hyperaldosteronism with suppression of plasma renin activity and aldosterone. Pseudohyperaldosteronism can be due to a direct mineralocorticoid effect, as with desoxycorticosterone, fluorohydrocortisone, fluoroprednisolone, estrogens, and the ingestion of high amounts of glycyrrhetinic acid.
