Tamoxifen is a potent antagonist of estrogen, and hepatic steatosis is a frequent complication in adjuvant tamoxifen for breast cancer. Impaired hepatic FA beta-oxidation in peroxisomes, microsomes, and mitochondria results in progression of massive hepatic steatosis in estrogen deficiency.
