We have studied the roles of polyubiquitin in Candida albicans physiology. Heterologous expression of the C. albicans polyubiquitin (UBI4) gene in a ubi4 Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain suppressed the mutant phenotype (hypersensitivity to heat shock).
