Acetate is accumulated in the aerobic high cell density culture of Escherichia coli, Which seriously inhibits cell growth and expression of recombinant proteins. To alleviate acetate inhibition, mutants of E. coli JM101 were generated by 60Co radiation and then enriched in continuous culture with acetate as the selective pressure.
