CpG-binding protein (CGBP) binds unmethylated CpG dinucleotides and is essential for mammalian development. CGBP exhibits a punctate nuclear localization correlated with 4,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole light regions and is excluded from metaphase chromosomes.
