A boy of Caucasian origin with a new subtype of autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS) is described. The clinical picture was dominated by chronic noninfectious lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, and recurrent bacterial infections. At the age of 6 the patient died of pneumococcal meningitis.
