During bacterial protein synthesis, stalled ribosomes can be rescued by tmRNA, a molecule with both tRNA and mRNA features. The tRNA region of tmRNA has sequence similarity with tRNA(Ala) and also has a clover-leaf structure folded similarly as in canonical tRNAs.
