Cytochrome P450 BM-3, a self-sufficient P450 enzyme from Bacillus megaterium that catalyzes the subterminal hydroxylation of long-chain fatty acids, has been engineered into a catalyst for the oxidation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
