A cDNA encoding for a tunicate inward rectifier K+ channel (TuIRK) was isolated. TuIRK exhibited the highest similarity (approximately 50%) with mammalian Kir2 (IRK) subfamily. Maternal RNA of TuIRK was detected by RT-PCR in unfertilized eggs.
