Factor XIII (XIII) is a heterotetramer consisting of two catalytic A subunits (XIIIA) and two noncatalytic B subunits (XIIIB). We examined the molecular mechanisms of a Y283C mutation which had previously been identified in a patient with XIIIA deficiency.
