Trophoblastic bovine interferon-tau (bIFN-tau) suppresses luteolytic pulses of endometrial prostaglandin F(2alpha) (PGF(2alpha)) at the time of maternal recognition of pregnancy. This results in maintenance of the corpus luteum in cattle.
