Oncostatin M (OSM), an IL-6 subfamily cytokine, inhibits proliferation and causes morphological changes in many tumor cell lines. GM-CSF, phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA), and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induce OSM expression.
