The XPR2 gene from Yarrowia lipolytica encodes an inducible alkaline extracellular protease. Its complex regulation involves pH, carbon, nitrogen and peptones. Two previously identified upstream activating sequence (UAS) regions were analysed in a reporter system, outside the XPR2 context.
