<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> Preterm birth (PTB) is a leading cause of perinatal and infant mortality worldwide. PTB can be induced by systemic maternal or intra-uterine infection or by sterile intra-amniotic inflammation driven by alarmins such as interleukin-1α (IL-1α).
