The cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) and ability to invade cells are known virulence factors of Campylobacter jejuni. The cdtB subunit was sequenced in isolates obtained from humans (n = 19), chickens (n = 50), and turkeys (n = 22) to determine if pathogenic C. jejuni could be detected using the cdtB gene.
