The accumulation of subgenomic flavivirus RNAs (sfRNAs) modulates viral fitness and pathogenicity in culture and in vivo . These noncoding RNAs are produced by incomplete digestion of the flavivirus genome by the cellular 5’-3’ exoribonuclease (XRN1).
