<h4>Background: </h4> In Plasmodium falciparum infection, clinical conditions such as anaemia, thrombocytopenia and leucocytosis are common. Mutation in haemoglobin sub-unit beta gene ( HBB ) may be a genetic factor responsible for these haematological changes during infection.
