<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> IF1 protein inhibits F 1 F 0 ATP hydrolysis (and not F 1 F 0 ATP synthesis). Across investigated species more IF1 protein, and less F 1 F 0 ATP hydrolysis, correlates with greater maximal lifespan.
