Interleukin 13 (IL-13) is an immunoregulatory cytokine that is primarily released by activated T-helper 2 cells. It induces the pathogenesis of many allergic diseases, such as airway hyperresponsiveness, glycoprotein hypersecretion and goblet cell hyperplasia.
