<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> In many bacteria, polyphosphate kinase (PPK) enzymes use ATP to synthesize polyphosphate (polyP) in response to cellular stress. These chains of inorganic phosphates are joined by high-energy bonds and can reach hundreds of residues in length.
