The human and animal pathogens Yersinia pestis , which causes bubonic and pneumonic plague, and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis and Yersinia enterocolitica , which cause gastroenteritis, share a type 3 secretion system which injects effector proteins, Yops, into host cells.
