Canna lily, Canna edulis Ker-Gawl., is an important economic crop in China with a production area of more than 40,000 ha. In July 2017, bacterial soft rot was found occurring on C. edulis (cv. Xingyu1) in multiple fields in Wuhua, Guangdong, China, with a disease incidence of about 20%. The early symptoms included darkened and water-soaked necrotic lesions at the basal stems.
