Pinellia ternata (Thunb.) Breit. is a perennial herbaceous plant (family Araceae) native to China. The tuber of P. ternata is the most commonly used traditional Chinese herbal medicine for antiemetic, antitussive, sedative, and anti-inflammatory purposes (Marki et al. 1987).
