Cochliobolus miyabeanus causes brown spot disease of rice. For necrotrophic Cochliobolus spp., some small molecule products of nonribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPS) and polyketide synthases (PKS) are known pathogenicity and/or virulence factors, often acting in a host-specific manner.
