Females have two X chromosomes, one of which is inactivated early in development with specific regions and genes ‘escaping’ inactivation. Thus, X chromosome loss putatively results in decreased ‘dosage’ of X chromosome escapee and pseudoautosomal genes, impacting downstream pathways.
