Camellia oleifera (family Theaceae), or oil tea, is native to China and was introduced over 100 years ago in Taiwan. In April 2016, leaf blight occurred on trees in different oil tea orchards in Hualien county. Infected leaves dropped early, with at least 50% defoliation.
