Niemann-Pick disease type C1 (NPC disease) is a neurodegenerative multi-lipid lysosomal storage disease caused by mutations in the NPC1 gene presenting with reduced lysosomal Ca 2+ signalling and inhibited late endosome-lysosome transport.
