Leymus chinensis (Poaceae) is a rhizomatous native perennial plant with good palatability and high forage yield. The grassland dominated by L. chinensis is widespread from the Sanjiang plain of eastern China to the eastern part of Inner Mongolia (Xu and Zhou 2006).
