Microstegium vimineum (Japanese stiltgrass) belongs in the family Poaceae. In China, this annual C4 weed is mainly distributed south of the Yangtze River. With its high shade tolerance, M. vimineum invades forest understories and crowds out the local vegetation (Warren et al. 2011).
