Thrombin Activatable Fibrinolysis Inhibitor (TAFI) is a recently identified fibrinolysis inhibitor in plasma, that when converted to an enzyme potently attenuates fibrinolysis. It is activated by relatively high concentrations of thrombin that exceed the thrombin concentration required for fibrin formation.
