OBJECTIVE: To map and identify susceptibility genes for NIDDM and for the intermediate quantitative traits associated with NIDDM. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We describe the methodology and sample of the Finland-United States Investigation of NIDDM Genetics (FUSION) study.
