Using SDS-PAGE gels we observed the induced synthesis of a protein with a molecular mass of 80 kDa when cells of strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were subjected to dehydration. Physiological analysis showed that this protein is not present during growth on glucose but was found in derepressed cells from stationary phase.
