A highly homogeneously methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strain was grown in the presence of various concentrations of exogenous glycine. Increasing concentrations of glycine in the medium resulted in a decrease in methicillin resistance and the appearance of a heterogeneous resistance phenotype.
