Enriched fractions of spermatogenic cells were isolated by unit gravity sedimentation and analyzed both for the presence of secreted tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF alpha) in vitro by bioassay and for the presence of TNF alpha mRNA by Northern blot analysis.
