Acetone-fixed, cryostat sections of 81 snap-frozen invasive breast carcinomas were immunostained with monoclonal antibodies to Cathepsin D (CD), a protease believed to mediate extracellular matrix dissolution, and Type IV collagen, a constituent of basal lamina (BL).
