The virus family Hepadnaviridae comprises two genera: orthohepadnaviruses isolated from humans (hepatitis B virus [HBV]) and rodents (e.g., woodchuck hepatitis virus [WHV]) and avihepadnaviruses isolated from birds (e.g., duck hepatitis B virus [DHBV]).
