Liver cytosolic fractions are known to catalyze the reduction of certain C-nitroso compounds to their corresponding hydroxylamines and amines. Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase, and xanthine and aldehyde oxidases have been implicated as C-nitroso reductases.
