Across biology, organisms have retained a mechanism to diversify the RNA transcriptome through RNA editing. Mediated by ADAR (adenosine deaminase acting on RNA) enzymes, Adenosines in double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) structures can be edited to Inosines (adenosine-to-inosine edit).
