Tubular atrophy and interstitial fibrosis are basic renal pathological changes in autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease (ADTKD). Reduced secretion or abnormal structure of uromodulin (UMOD) are recognised pathogenic factors of ADTKD.
